Held every year in May, the honey festival is a truly unique experience. Argana is one of the largest collective beehives in the world. The hives are made of split reed cylinders covered with clay, and are steeped in a rich local culture and tradition. |

The Wax Candle festival is held in the white town of Sale, the sister city to Rabat, on the Bouregreg Estuary. This wonderful traditional festival, with its wax lantern procession (Mawkib Esh Shomouaa) is said to date back to the Barbary period. It is said that the corsairs carried wax lanterns in procession to the town’s patron, Sidi Abdallah Ben Hassoun, to ask for protection on their journey. |

High in the Atlas Mountains, the village of Imilchil hosts the famous annual engagement and marriage festival. The local are a nomadic Berber tribe called the Ait Hdiddou. During the festival young girls and boys from many different villages are allowed to meet, for the purpose of marriage.The festival is full of colour, music, flirting and dancing. |

The horse festival is held in Tissa, where every year hundreds of riders gather wearing traditional finery. There is fierce competition, with prize giving ceremonies and feasts. |
