Inspiring Morocco will be open at Harrods until 18th December.
From Shakespeare’s Othello to Sir Winston Churchill’s memoirs and paintings, Morocco has been inspiring British
culture for centuries. Now, this enchanted country is heading for London, bringing with it a unique and insightful
cultural exhibition.
Hosted at luxury Knightsbridge store Harrods, “Inspiring Morocco” will recreate an authentic
Riad in store from 24th October until 18th December. The exhibition will showcase the best of the country’s art,
craftsmanship and cuisine throughout the store, giving visitors a taste of both the traditional and contemporary
wonders of Morocco.
Where traditional design meets contemporary style On the Third Floor, master artisans have hand-crafted a stunning traditional Moroccan arched riad, enriched with
ornate zellige tiles and intricate woodcarving, complete with a marble fountain centerpiece. Inspiring Morocco will
be London’s only authentic Moroccan venue where exquisite handicrafts, including kaftans, textiles, leather goods and
ceramics, and beautifully handcrafted filigree (copperworks), will be showcased and available for purchase or order.
Moreover, paintings, photography and kaftans from some of the country’s most esteemed and up-and-coming artistic
talent will be exhibited. And for a moment of relaxation, customers can recline in the opulent settings of a Moroccan
tea room and enjoy complimentary Moroccan mint tea and sweets.
In addition to the exhibits, each Saturday and Sunday from 5th November, a range of authentic Moroccan experiences
will be available for shoppers to enjoy, including traditional henna tattoos, calligraphy and live ‘oud’ music. In the Urban
Retreat spa, an exclusive range of luxury beauty products made with indigenous Moroccan ingredients such as argan
oil, rose and rhassoul will be available for a limited period only.
Where authentic cuisine meets modern flavour Food lovers can get a taste of Morocco’s famed and distinctive cuisine within the store’s iconic Food Halls on the
Ground Floor, where a handpicked selection of the best Moroccan produce will be available to taste and take home,
including exotic spices and delicacies; argan oil; couscous and tagine dishes. Meanwhile, a section of the Fourth Floor
Georgian Restaurant will be transformed into a Moroccan-inspired dining experience with an exclusive menu featuring
signature dishes from various regions of the country and prepared by Moroccan Chef Moha of the famous Dar
Moha in Marrakech.
Inspiring Morocco encapsulates and cements the longstanding relationship between Morocco and Britain,
where for centuries they have enjoyed a close relationship. The growing interest within the UK for Moroccan
culture, design and cuisine, is reflected through the increase in the number of British tourists, celebrities and
opinion leaders who have visited or indeed own homes Morocco. This one of a kind exhibition is the perfect
occasion to re-acquaint the British public with a sample of the very best and authentic culture Morocco
has to offer.
